Linsen H. Ngai, a self-taught artist, received her BS from University of California, Berkeley, MS and PhD from University of Chicago in Chemistry.
Since retiring from scientific research, she devotes full time to her art. She learned Chinese art by reading and studying works from old masters.
Initially, her techniques emphasized brush strokes and the use of Chinese ink. As her painting skills matured, her techniques evolved
to include an emphasis on colors.
Linsen hopes that the viewers of her paintings feel the beauty, joy, and the
love of the world that we live in the same way she experienced them while
painting. The four pictures in this gallery show the variety of subject matter and techniques
she uses. Good Friends and Songs of the Robin are examples of simple brush stroke techniques.
Spring Sonatina depicts seasonal changes of mother nature. The Dream Boat
gives the viewer a sense of peace, beauty and serenity.
Linsen is an active member of the McLean Art Society, Vienna Arts Society and the Potomac Valley Watercolorists. Her works are shown in many local facilities and organizations. Her continuous solo exhibitions are on display at the Oriental Regency Restaurant, Vienna, Virginia.
